Dear Municipal Officials,


I wanted to make you aware that Eversource is planning to perform an aerial patrol of the Western Massachusetts transmission lines starting next week.  Any adverse flying conditions will require rescheduling.

PURPOSE OF FLYOVER:  Eversource will be conducting LiDAR scans across the transmission lines in Western Mass in May 2023, which includes helicopter flights over the transmission lines at 1800’. LiDAR is an aerial high-tech survey of the transmission systems and allows for Eversource Engineers to optimize the analysis, design, and configuration of the transmission lines using up-to-date electronic data.

DATE(S) AND TOWNS INCLUDED:  Flights will occur begin on May 3rd and will continue through May 9th. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

The following towns will be impacted by helicopter inspections: Agawam, Springfield, West Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, Ludlow, South Hadley, Granby, Amherst, Leverett, Sunderland, Montague, Evring, Northfield, Greenfield, Deerfield, Conway, Shelburne, Ashfield, Plainfield, Windsor, Hinsdale, Peru, Pelham, and Belchertown.

DESCRIPTION OF AIRCRAFT:  Blue and White Right Brother Aviation, Bell 206 Jet Ranger with the following tail numbers: N1158B.

FLIGHT TIMES:  Work hours will commence Wednesday, May 3rd and will continue through May 9th. Flights will begin at 7 A.M. and finish at 6 P.M., with helicopter flights occurring intermittently during this time and weather permitting
